At the Spring Shabbaton, Rabbi Ben Shalva will lead a session on Kabbalah.
Kabbalah -- Jewish Mysticism -- offers a number of transformative meditation techniques aimed to calm the mind, revitalize the soul, connect to the Source, and discover the deepest self. The Shabbaton will sample a variety of Kabbalistic meditation practices and discover solace and sanctuary in our own bodies, hearts and minds. No background or prior experience necessary - all beginners welcome! This session will will focus on "The Four Worlds of Jewish Mindfulness."
Rabbi Ben Shalva is well known for his singing and guitar playing at Bet Mishpachah's musical Shabbat services in recent years. Rabbi Ben is also a writer, yoga instructor, meditation teacher, and musician. He received his rabbinical ordination from the Jewish Theological Seminary and serves on the faculties of the Soul Center and the Jewish Mindfulness Center of Washington. He specializes in blending the mystic traditions of East and West and leads workshops throughout the country on Mindfulness Meditation, Jewish Meditation, and Kabbalah Yoga. His writings have been published in numerous publications including the Washington Post, Success Magazine, and Spirituality & Health Magazine and he is the author of two books -- Spiritual Cross-Training: Searching through Silence, Stretch, and Song and Ambition Addiction: How to Go Slow, Give Thanks, and Discover Joy Within.
