Volunteer Opportunities with Bet Mishpachah
Bet Mishpachah is a volunteer run and governed synagogue.  In addition to the formal committees and the Board of Directors, there are tasks and activities throughout the year that can use your support, including these:
Newsletter Editor Wanted

Would you like to know what‘s going on in the
congregation before just about everyone else? Do you have an eye for detail, an ability to organize information from a number of sources, and a hatred of meetings? Then have we got a job for you! After five years, the current Mishpachah Matters editor is stepping aside. The ideal candidate will have great organizational abilities, a good grasp of written English and some familiarity with congregational Hebrew usage, and the ability to prioritize workflows and newsletter content. You‘ll work with our fabulous layout person, most of the members of the Board of Directors, several committee chairs, and our crack team of proofreaders. You‘ll receive training and support until you‘re ready to solo.  If you are interested in becoming the next newsletter editor, please contact Mary Arras at vpc@betmish.org.

Northern Virginia Chavura Needs You!

In 2010, NOVA Chavura hosted a variety of events, including a pool party in Alexandria, a bagel brunch in McLean, and a fireplace chat in Vienna.  In other years we have played miniature golf, watched Israeli movies, toured art exhibits, shared a catered dinner, learned about Jewish philosophy, and enjoyed a wine tasting event.

In order to continue scheduling approximately one event in each calendar quarter, we need a special volunteer who enjoys talking on the phone.  This person will be responsible for identifying people interested in hosting a chavura and for following up with them to identify two or three optional dates.  This might take as much as two hours a month. The chair of the Northern Virginia chavura will be responsible for the actual scheduling, coordination, and walking the host (if a first time host) through the process. If you are interested in being this special volunteer, please contact chavurot@betmish.org.

Web Editor Wanted

You do not need to be a tech wiz to help out with this activity!  We are looking for someone who would be willing to volunteer an hour a week (at most) to maintaining our website.  There are two major areas where we could use help:

1. Adding new information specific pages on the site when requested by others.  You won't need to write the postings themselves - just put them online using our easy publishing software.

2. Keeping an eye on the site as a whole and making sure the links work, pages are up to date, and generally following up with the owners of the various parts of the site to keep their areas up to date.  You will not need to create content for the site, just be willing to look around on the site from time to time and work with others to get updated information and post it as needed.

If this sounds interesting, please contact Mary Arras at vpc@betmish.org:  Thank you.

Would you like to be a part of the face(book) of the congregation?

Do you feel comfortable taking pictures and uploading them to the Internet? Maybe also adding in a few words about what's going on with the congregation such as upcoming events, what happened in previous events,
etc.? If so, consider becoming an editor of our Facebook page. This doesn't have to be done by just one person; we're looking for as many folks as are interested to help show off our congregation.
If you are interested in helping out with this task, please contact Mary Arras at vpc@betmish.org:
